Into the open: Auscultare

After fifteen years of shipping through app stores, the newest direction is the oldest one in software: publish the source. Auscultare (Latin for attentive listening) is a libre Android player for long-form audio: podcasts and audiobooks.

What it does

• Plays your MP3 files and remembers where you left off, per file, so three-hour interviews are actually finishable.
• Counts plays, so workout playlists rotate instead of repeating.
• Minimal light and dark design, lock-screen controls, Bluetooth and casting.
